Stonebrooke Engineering was hired by Freeborn County to analyze the current intersection layout and the installation of an improved layout at the junction of CSAH 22 (Bridge Avenue) and Hawthorne Street in Albert Lea, MN. Concern over safety, access, mobility and accommodation for growth led the Freeborn County Highway Department to pursue intersection improvements that will help provide more uniform traffic flow and improved safety for current traffic volumes and projected traffic growth while minimizing Right of Way need. Components of this study included: traffic operations analysis, traffic impact studies, traffic forecasting, signal justification reports, intersection control evaluation, intersection geometrics and layout, capacity analysis, and cost estimates.
