Stonebrooke staff performing traffic analysis at two intersections in Southeast Minnesota
Stonebrooke Engineering is working with Mn/DOT District 6 (Rochester) to complete a detailed traffic analysis evaluation and corresponding geometric layout for two areas in Southeast Minnesota. The first intersection, US Highway 14 at Trunk Highway 42, is located in Eyota, MN. The second intersection study considers the realignment of roadways near the Trunk Highway 246 at County Road 1/County Road 81 conglomerate including, County Roads 22 and 82.
Both studies include current and future roadway capacity needs, considering area development, safety analysis and the comparison of roundabout versus traffic signal and stop controlled intersection operations. Intersection operation study is based on the methodology of the 2000 Highway Capacity Manual through the use of SYNCHRO, a traffic analysis software program by traffic, for signalized and unsignalized conditions. To measure the service and delay for a single-lane roundabout, the design program RODEL will be used.
